The Future Chosen

The nation of Isla has a law: No two politicians from the same family. Two elected officials who marry make their families one; only one can continue to serve.

In the future, Maria Lourdes and Andres Miguel could very well be their country’s best and most influential leaders. She could be president one day, like her grandmother. He could be a senator one day, like his uncle. Marrying another politician is against the law, but why should it matter? Today they’re just young people who want to be together.

They’ll deal with the rest of it tomorrow.

SparkNA new books this month!

New stuff! This month! I’m so excited to see these. Spark Books is a new-adult imprint of Anvil Publishing, and they will have a LOT of new romance books in stores before the end of the year. These new releases were selected from the SparkNA class we had in 2015, where authors signed up to write a new-adult novel based on guidelines and a schedule that I set. As workshop sponsor, Anvil Publishing had first dibs on the submissions. December 2016, the first batch of books are coming out in print, and they look awesome.

Watch out for these in local bookstores! At least ten new books soon!

Holiday discount 2016: Fairy Tale Fail, No Strings Attached, Love Your Frenemies, Welcome to Envy Park

I’m not even going to start to talk about what’s going on in the world right now, but it’s a lot. One of those things is that the peso dropped in value to P50=$1, which kind of sucks when you’re an indie author and you want fellow Pinoys to try buying your ebooks, because the exchange rate made it more expensive.

Sigh. Anyway, let’s try this thing:

Four of my books from the Chic Manila series are discounted to $0.99 each during this holiday season. These are contemporary romances (written chicklit-style) set in Manila with Filipino characters. They’re all standalones, and can be read out of order, but you can also choose to read them in order of publication if you’re into that.

In case you wanted to try them, or want to gift them to friends, maybe?

No Strings Attached (2016 new cover, print+ebook edition)

NSA cover share

Carla’s 29 and a whiz at her job: she’s efficient, reliable, and a total genius when it comes to putting something together at the last minute. Her dating life is practically nonexistent though, and everyone has an opinion about that. Her girl best friend (who’s married) keeps trying to set her up with stable banker-types, while her guy best friend (single and proud of it) encourages her to play the field–no strings attached…

My new book The Future Chosen, soon on Radish Fiction

Andres and Lourdes board on Pinterest

A few years ago, I began writing the story of young, future politicians Andres and Lourdes. (Read the short story “Extraordinary” on Clara Romance Journal.) This is a bit different from my usual romance books, first of all because Andres and Lourdes live in Isla, a country that doesn’t exactly exist. But they’re in love, and they can’t marry, because Isla has a law: no two politicians from the same family.

What You Wanted

WYW share

It’s the classic one-night stand: Beach wedding, bridesmaid, groom’s friend. When Andrea and Damon meet, sparks fly, and they give in to the attraction. Sounds simple, but Andrea’s still getting over someone, and Damon thought he’d be hooking up with another person that night. It could still be simple, really, if they chalk it up to a weekend tryst and move on.

But one night becomes lunch the week after, and then dinner the next weekend…and before they know it, Andrea and Damon are still together, dealing with the feelings they know they might still have for other people. How hard can it be to get exactly what you want? How do you even know what it is?
